He has served as chair of the American College of Emergency Physicians Section of Wilderness Medicine and sits on the board of directors of the Wilderness Medical Society. He has published more than fifty original research articles and directed expedition medical care on six continents. The Scouting Guide to Wilderness First Aid is his thirdbook.
