Trump Has Said That Congressional Investigators Should Look Into Why Pence Did Not Reject the Electoral College Results.
As multiple investigations into his and his family’s conduct continue to shut in on him, Donald Trump is said to be prepared to “tear it all down.”
The role played by the former president in seeding doubt about the results of the 2020 election is being investigated by the House Select Committee on 6 January, and the financial affairs of his corporation are also being forensically scrutinised by investigators in New York.
Trump’s spokesperson, Liz Harrington, issued a statement on Tuesday in which he again attacked the House committee investigating the Capitol incident, claiming that the committee should be concentrating on Vice President Mike Pence and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rather than himself.
“The Unselect Committee should be examining why Nancy Pelosi did such a bad job managing security and why Mike Pence did not send back the votes for recertification or approval, in light of the fact that it has now been demonstrated that he obviously had the authority to do so!” he wrote.
Earlier this week, former President Donald Trump called for a new focus for congressional investigators: why Vice President Mike Pence did not take action on Jan. 6, 2021, to reject electoral college votes from many states won by Joe Biden.
It took two days for Trump to issue his proclamation.
